Kinjac is the moniker of Asheville, NC based musician and philosophy student Michael O’Shea. After a short stint in the Chapel Hill, NC music scene as a drummer, he returned to WNC to expand his musical repertoire beyond percussion to include all aspects of music, from writing to recording to producing to mastering.


Since becoming a solo-act in early 2008, Kinjac has taken two full-length solo albums from conception to completion in his small, secluded studio. Blending minimalistic melodies with a din of digitized percussion, Kinjac’s music is a unique synthesis of the digital and organic that manages to fall outside the bounds of most categorizations. But don’t take my word for it—give it a careful listen yourself.


His second full length attempt, “Seven Years Bad Luck,” is set to be self-released January 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day). A rough musical roadmap of the past seven years, both for himself personally and for the political times, the album was written, recorded and produced at a feverish pace, going from start to finish in a single month.


Kinjac is currently booking show dates as a one-person act for the southeast region and will be appearing in the coming months with acts such as L.A. producer/musician Thavius Beck, Asheville based group C.I.A. and Sylva, NC based group Everflaw.
