How do I upload a audio?
Once you’ve finished editing your audio, made sure it's smaller than 100MB, and in an MP3 format, and you have a band account, you're ready to upload it.
- Click "UPLOAD" at the top of any This Is My Band page.
- If you have a Band Account, it will ask if you want to upload MP3 or Video. Click on the MP3 link.
- Enter as much information about your audio as possible, including Title, Description, Tags, and Category. The more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your audio!
- Click the "Continue" button.
- On the next screen, click the "Browse" button to browse for the audio file. Select the file you want to upload.
- Determine if you want your audio set to Public or Private.
- Click the "Upload Audio" button.
- Now wait for it to upload. This can take from 1 to 5 minutes per MB depending on your internet connection, so please be patient.
Why isn't my audio showing up in search?
Depending on site traffic, changes to audio information can take 8 hours or more to show up in the search index after they've been uploaded, changed, or removed. This includes changes to tags, ratings, plays, and comments. Please be patient -- the audio will show in the search index shortly. To bypass this time, you may want to send your friends the link of the audio via email or private message.
To find audio that were recently uploaded, you may want to sort by "Most Recent". To do this, click the "LISTEN" button at the top. From that page, click the "Most Recent" link at the top of the screen. This will allow you to see the most recently uploaded audio first.
Note that unless the username of the uploader is specified as a tag it may not be indexed for a audio search. To find a user (and their audio), perform a search for their username.
There are also more advanced editing programs available for purchase or download online. We encourage you to look around and find the editing software that's right for you.
How long will my audio take to upload?
Depending on your connection speed and the size of the audio, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to upload a audio. Generally, if you have a high-speed Internet connection you can expect the upload to take somewhere between 1-5 minutes for every 1MB. However, the experience is different for every user because of the variation in connection speeds.
How long are my audio available on This Is My Band?
Audio stay on This Is My Band until the members who uploaded them choose to take them down. Audio which violate the Terms of Use (http://www.thisismyband.com/terms.php) may be taken down by This Is My Band at anytime.
Can I replace an audio and retain the old view count, comments, and ratings?
There is currently no way to replace an old audio with a new one and retain the original view count, comments or ratings. You'll have to start over with your newer audio.
Do I have to sign up to upload audio?
Yes. Since audio are attached to your profile, you must sign up as a band member to upload audio. Becoming a band member also allows you to save audio, create Playlists, and leave comments, among many other features.
How long does it take to process an audio after it's been uploaded?
Processing time varies greatly depending on file size, and upload traffic. This could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
If after 12 hours you still see a status message next to the audio saying "Uploaded (processing, please wait)," try removing the audio from our site and uploading it again. To do this, simply click the "Remove Audio" button below the audio in question in "My Audio" and go through the full upload process again.
Make sure your audio is under 100 megabytes in size and is an MP3 only. If your audio meets these minimum requirements and still won't upload, there may be a problem with the audio file you're using.
What audio file formats can I upload?
MP3 only at this time.
Who can upload audios (MP3's)
At this time, due to copyright laws, we only allow Band Account's to upload MP3 audios. The band should be the legal copyright holder of the song or have permission from the copyright holder to upload it. Any songs found in violation will be deleted.
How long/large can my audio be?
All audio uploaded to This Is My Band have a 100MB file size limit.
Is there a limit to how many audio I can upload?
We don't have any limit for the number of audio you can upload, and don't foresee adding a ceiling anytime in the future. So start making audio and upload as many as you'd like—it's more content for the whole This Is My Band community to enjoy!
Can I upload audio that are longer than 10 minutes?
Yes, if you can compress them to under 100MB then you have have as long of a audio as you like.
My upload's been running a long time and hasn't completed. What should I do?
Uploading a audio can take several hours, depending on the length of your audio and the demand on the servers. If your audio upload is taking longer than 24 hours to complete, we recommend canceling the upload, checking the length and settings for your audio, and uploading it again.
What does "Invalid file format error" mean?
"Invalid file format error" means that your audio is in a format other than MP3. If your audio is an MP3 and still won't upload, it may be due to a problem with the audio file you are using.
